Speaking as a misfit unassimilated foreigner, I think of Thanksgiving as the most American of holidays. Christmas is celebrated elsewhere, even if there are significant local variations: in continental Europe, naughty children get left rods to be flayed with and lumps of coal; in Britain, Christmas lasts from December 22nd to mid-January and celebrates the ancient cultural traditions of massive alcohol intake and watching the telly till you pass out in a pool of your own vomit. All part of the rich diversity of our world. But Thanksgiving (excepting the premature and somewhat undernourished Canadian version) is unique to America. “What’s it about?” an Irish visitor asked me a couple of years back. “Everyone sits around giving thanks all day? Thanks for what? George bloody Bush?”

CAIR Targets Another Conservative Talk Show Host

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is pressing advertisers to withdraw their sponsorship of Michael Savage’s nationally syndicated radio program because of Savage’s alleged “anti-Muslim bigotry.”

Savage, on his Web site, is fighting back, urging his listeners to protect freedom of speech: “Email your representative; investigate CAIR for manipulating the U.S. media,” his Web site says.

On Nov. 1, CAIR urged “radio listeners of all faiths” to contact companies that advertise on “The Savage Nation” to complain about an “anti-Muslim tirade” on Savage’s Oct. 29 program. (CAIR periodically issues “incitement alerts,” urging its members to contact various media outlets to express their concerns about “Islamophobic attitudes.”)

Several anti-Jewish hate crimes were recorded in recent weeks as the Anti-Defamation League released a survey recording a rise in American Anti-Semitism.

Swastikas at US Colleges

At Columbia University, Jewish faculty member Elizabeth Midlarsky of the university’s Teachers College found a Nazi swastika spray-painted on the door of her office last week.

Midlarsky says she has received hate-mail recently as well.

Shortly after the visit of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to Columbia in September, a noose was hung on the door of a Columbia professor, and graffiti of a Jew with a swastika was found on a rest room door.

The FBI is investigating a string of swastika incidents at George Washington University, according to The Hatchet, GWU’s student newspaper. Eight incidents have been reported – five targeting the dormitory of a Jewish reporter for the paper.

Remember those rumors we use to hear about re: Hill’s sexual orientation while Billary occupied the WH? Well it seems those rumors are finally coming home to roost. It appears that a super big story may hit the air waves soon exposing Hillary’s sexual orientation. It’s about time! The LA Times is sitting on proof of this little known DC secret, but they are not reporting it because they are scared about the repercussions. Last time I was in journalism school, which was a zillion years ago, we were taught to report the facts, not sit on facts cuz we were fraidie cats. I guess Times have changed. No pun intended!

Aahh, heck, it doesn’t matter if Hill gets outed by a gay sex scandal. The Modern Progressives don’t care about that. It’s only scandalous if you’re a Republican gay! So the LA Times have nothing to concern their little empty heads about!

UPDATE I: The libs are all upset about this latest report. I’m confused why when it’s their very own gays who are outing Hill. What’s the prob?

Established in 1974 as a Marxist-Leninist insurgent group primarily composed of Turkish Kurds, by the late 1990s the PKK had moved beyond rural-based insurgent activities to include urban terrorism. The PKK sought to set up an independent Kurdish state in southeastern Turkey, where there is a predominantly Kurdish population. Geography, politics and history have conspired to render 30 million Kurds the largest stateless people in the Middle East. The Government of Turkey has long denied the Kurdish population, located largely in the southeast, basic political, cultural, and linguistic rights. On 22 May 2007, an explosion in Ankara occurred during rush hour near the entrance of the Anafartalar shopping center in the Ulus district across from the first Parliament building killing at least six people and injuring more than 100. The area was the busiest commercial neighborhood in Ankara, known for its tourist sites and bazaars. The device, an A-4 plastic explosive, was detonated by a suicide bomber at a bus stop near the shopping center. The blast was the second explosion in Turkey in ten days. On 12 May 2007, a bomb exploded in an open bazaar in the Izmir’s Bornova district, killing at least one person and injuring nearly 14 others. While it was not entirely clear whether or not these attacks were carried out by members of the PKK, A-4 type bombs have historically been used by suspected KGK/PKK militants.
