The Eff Word.  Fascism.

By Doctor Zero

All Hail, Faux-bama!

All Hail, Faux-bama!

It’s the ultimate political epithet, the atomic blast that ends calm and measured debate. This makes those who seek to be reasonable and persuasive understandably reluctant to use the word… and those who aren’t interested in either reason or persuasion eager to hurl it at their opponents. There is nothing surprising about the visceral emotions conjured by the mention of its name. The history of fascism is written in the blood of innocents, on a scale that challenges the limits of human imagination.

Our natural repulsion from the concept of fascism, coupled with the way it has been cheapened by decades of use as a casual insult by the Left, makes it difficult for us to study it dispassionately. It is important to make that study, because fascism was not a mystical phenomenon, a curse inflicted on the Axis nations through the supernatural charisma of Mussolini and Hitler. Too many people recall the garish and horrifying trappings of Nazi Germany, and think “it couldn’t happen here.” It has happened here. It’s happening again now. We do ourselves no favors by refusing to see it, any more than we would be helping ourselves by throwing around baseless accusations of fascism where it does not exist.

Fascism, like communism and socialism, is a form of collectivist politics. As the great author H.P. Lovecraft put it, when describing the dark gods of his horror stories: “Many names, one nightmare.” These philosophies share a belief in the supreme power and virtue of the central State. Under communism, government owns the means of production – there is no private industry. In a socialist system, the State is nominally separate from private industry, but it siphons large amounts of money from the private sector to fund the socialist agenda.  Fascism maintains private industry, but places it under the direct control of the government. Private industry still exists, but the State sets production goals, directly controls economic activity, and dominates the management of corporations. Industry becomes enslaved to political goals.

Modern audiences, raised on a steady diet of movies about World War II, think of fascism as either inhumanly horrifying, or completely absurd, and wonder how anyone in their right minds could have fallen for the fascist sales pitch. In fact, fascism did not seem absurd at all to the intellectuals of the early twentieth century. They thought a wise and all-powerful State, run by the most brilliant minds, would be able to engineer a more advanced society, much as engineers were designing increasingly advanced scientific marvels. The pioneering author of modern science fiction, H.G. Wells, was an outspoken advocate of authoritarian control by a benevolent government of geniuses and academics. His novel The Shape of Things to Come envisions such a government seizing control of the entire world to create a global utopia, called “The Dictatorship of the Air” because the government controls the technology of air travel – which it occasionally uses to drop bombs on those who resist. Here are some excerpts from a famous speech Wells gave to the British Young Liberals Society at Oxford in 1932, reprinted in Jonah Goldberg’s indispensable Liberal Fascism – a phrase Wells actually coins in the speech:

We have seen the Fascisti in Italy and a number of clumsy imitations elsewhere, and we have seen the Russian Communist Party coming into existence to reinforce this idea… I am asking for a Liberal Fascisti, for enlightened Nazis… And do not let me leave you in the slightest doubt as to the scope and ambition of what I am putting before you… These new organizations are not merely organizations for the spread of defined opinions… the days of that sort of amateurism are over-they are organizations to replace the dilatory indecisiveness of democracy. The world is sick of parliamentary politics…

The world is sick of parliamentary politics. This is an idea that occurs in every strand of collectivist thought. Collectivists only revere democracy until it has voted them sufficient power… then democracy becomes a cumbersome inconvenience that allows selfish, ignorant fools and corporate shills to interfere with the brilliant work of great men. The Democrats fleeing from town hall meetings are also sick of parliamentary politics, as is the President who defiles American government with dozens of unelected, unconfirmed, unaccountable “czars.” Parliamentary politics proved very inconvenient for the President’s health-care takeover and cap-and-trade bills, and have been driving global-warming cultists mad with frustration for years.

Kids, Obey and Help your Leader!

Kids, Obey and Help your Leader!

Why is fascism bad? It seems like a ridiculously understated question, similar to asking why cancer is bad, but the answer is important. The grisly ornaments fascism has worn in the past should not distract from the deeper reality of what it is, and why it fails. The essential flaw of fascism is that it elevates the State to control of its citizens, because controlling the economy requires control of the people. A corporation is a voluntary association of people, not an inanimate machine that can be reprogrammed painlessly by wise government advisers. The people who comprise corporations must be kept alienated from the government’s supporters – fascism requires enemies, and turns feral quickly. The government does not require a majority of the people to support it, in order to maintain power. It can make do with much less than fifty per cent, if they are sufficiently motivated and obedient. In fact, maintaining control through an energized minority is much easier than keeping the majority of the population on board, especially in a large country.

The proposition that enlightened government officials should control the economy sounds appealing to those who feel capitalism has not treated them well. No matter what name it operates under, fascism never works. It can’t work. Fascist control might produce short-term gains for its favored constituencies, and the sense of organization it brings might benefit a highly disorganized or demoralized population, such as prewar Germany, for a while. In the long run, fascism falls apart because political control is always less flexible and innovative than free-market competition. The political masters of the economy have a list of alternatives they will not consider, mistakes they will not admit to making, and explanations that simply cannot be true. Since they see the free market as inferior to their intellect and moral judgment, they never study it carefully enough to understand how it really works. They become highly adept at killing the geese that lay golden eggs.

Government is a terrible senior partner for any industry, because it has only one thing to bring to the partnership, and that is compulsive force. Everything government does is an expression of force: it collects taxes under the threat of imprisonment or death, blocks access to markets through licensing, and changes the rules of market competition through regulation. A well-run government uses force to protect its citizens, from external threats and internal lawbreakers. As the size of government swells, so does the amount of force deployed to enforce its will. This is inevitable, because force is what a government is. The fascist views private industry as a work horse, yoked to the will of the State… and when the State has exhausted its minimal patience trying to talk the horse into moving faster, there remains only the lash. Political control of the economy never produces the results that would be needed to keep the vital constituencies of the politicians happy, and the only method they can imagine to make their industrial horses work harder is to swing the whip, with increasing anger.

The fascist impulse expresses itself differently in different societies. In America, it was first embraced by President Wilson and the Progressives, because it made sense to them, and everyone else in the industrialized world was already doing it – if you’re unfamiliar with the intellectual literature of the Thirties, you would be surprised how often British and American academics fretted about “falling behind” marvelous, fascist Italy and Germany. Fascism’s second life in America began because socialism failed. The system of providing social benefits to an increasingly large dependency class, by taxing a dwindling group of productive citizens, went utterly bankrupt. This is dramatically illustrated by the failure of Obama’s health care plan, which even the most politically disinterested Americans can see we clearly don’t have the money to pay for, with trillions of dollars in debt towering over us. Exit the tax collector… enter the “czar.” When the American Left saw that it could no longer extract enough tax money from an increasingly grumpy, overtaxed electorate, it became logically necessary to compel industry to provide what the Left desires. Wrapping this strategy in high-minded language like “green jobs” does not change its essential nature.

The grim pathologies we associate with fascism come as consequences of its original sin, the assertion of direct State control over the economy. The cult of personality forms because the mighty politicians who command the economy must be brilliant supermen – how else could they handle the enormous task they have set for themselves? To support Obama’s domestic policies, you must believe he understands medicine better than doctors and insurance companies, knows more about monetary policy than all the banks he has asserted control over, and has a greater mastery of energy production than the industries he plans to destroy with the cap-and-trade bill. He even knows more about making cars than General Motors… and all of the other auto-makers combined, since the automobile market wanted GM to die, and Obama commuted the death sentence to community service. No wonder the media loves to photograph the man with a halo, and Hollywood celebrities pledge their obedience to him on their knees!

Fascism acquires militaristic aspects because a society organized for war is easier to control, and opponents of the State are more easily dismissed as traitors. The American fascists, evolved from socialists and liberals, dislike aggressive wars of military conquest, so they co-opt the language of warfare for domestic policy issues, declaring their policy preferences to be the “moral equivalent of war.” Fascism becomes violent because its supporters develop a tribal hostility to their domestic enemies, which eventually leads them to beat those enemies, and maybe bite off a finger or two. Fascism incubates racism because racial animosity is a powerful glue for holding constituent groups together, and milking them for political support.

Is America sliding into fascism? Not completely, or quickly… but it’s a potent venom, deadly in small doses. We should not dismiss the menace of fascism by reasoning that it always comes dressed in black uniforms and jackboots, patrolling the perimeter of concentration camps – so we’re in good shape as long as those horrors are not in evidence. We shouldn’t be fooling around with such a toxic ideology at all. No matter how noble the stated goals at the beginning of the collectivist journey, it always ends at the same destination. Promoting his latest propaganda film, Michael Moore said that “capitalism is evil, and you cannot regulate evil. You have to replace it with something that is good for all people, and that something is democracy.” This is more than just laughable hypocrisy from a millionaire leftist. Capitalism is the exchange of goods and services between free men and women. In the end, there is only one alternative to it, and it is not “democracy.”

Many names, one nightmare.

RINO Reichert trying to back peddle on Liberal voting Record

Tags: , , , , , , , , ,

RINO--It's what's for dinner!

RINO--It's what's for dinner!

Congress Critter Dave Reichert–R,  is proudly pushing H.R.3268 – Earmark Transparency and Accountability Reform Act’ aka “Common Cents”. Isn’t that so cute???

He was reamed by Conservatives and Republicans for voting in favor of Cap and Trade and apparently “thinks”  this bill will help calm the anger of his constituents.  Reichert has never been a friend to Conservatives much less Republicans but because he has an “R” after his name the Republicans in his district will fight for his continued seat in Congress.  Why?

If Reichert had a “D” after his name the Republicans would NOT be at all surprised that he voted for Cap and Trade, the Stimulus Bills,  and the all the pork spending this yahoo has brought to Washington state, but because he claims to be a republican, Rs will defend and support him ’til the bitter end!

What I don’t understand with these Republicans is why they support this critter.  Reichert was voted into office replacing retired, Jennifer Dunn, who had a 84% conservative voting record. He started off with a 64% conservative voting record and has gone down hill ever since.  Currently, he has a 56% conservative voting record and the Republicans continue to support him.  Oh, how their attention span is short and our standards are so low!

Their argument: Well, it’s better to have him voting 56% of the time instead of none of the time.  They never even consider finding a Conservative replacement for Reichert. I guess that’s too much work! I guess it’s easier to work harder to pay for all of these tax increases IF YOU HAVE A JOB, then it is to find a actual Conservative.  Is it any wonder the Republican party is in the shape it’s in???

Republicans drink by the gallon!

What RINO apologists drink by the gallon!

King County Republicans:  Stop drinking the kool-aid and don’t jump too high in excitement over this “Common Cents”  reform act! All this act will do is AMEND A RULE. That’s it!  The rule will require that all pork will be placed in a searchable website for member spending which is managed by the clerk.

  • Rule XXI of the Rules of the House of Representatives is amended by adding at the end the following new clause:

` Special requirement for bills and resolutions containing earmarks

`11. It shall not be in order to consider any bill or joint resolution reported by any committee, or any amendment thereto or conference report thereon, that contains any congressional earmark (as defined in clause 9) that has not been posted on the Website of that committee for at least 72 hours (excluding Saturdays, Sundays and holidays except when the House is in session on such a day).’.

We should be so proud of Reichert for this landmark legislation especially after he voted in favor of stealing the auto industry from private hands and then voting for Cash for Clunkers and the additional 1 Billion taxpayer dollars our children will be paying for in their future.  Gee, I’m so proud of you Reichert for this amendment to expose the pork barrel spending which you are so good at bringing into Washington state!

Dear Progressive

Tags: , , , , , , , , ,

ThoughtRogue:  The following is a real letter written to my long lost hardcore Leftist – excuse me, Progressive friend.  It is certainly meant to spark discussion and debate with him, or any Leftist.  He seems to have developed a very hard time answering such questions without falling into huge traps of hypocrisy, ignorance, or prevarication.  Please, if you would act as his surrogate, and would like to take a stab at the many searing questions, go for it!!

Dear Progressive Acolyte,

The following questions are genuine inquiries, hoping always for serious dialogue.

Obama said the other day that he’s intent on “remaking America.”  Are you onboard with this, or do you have any reservations?

He also has stated that he believes the U.S. Constitution to be [fatally] “flawed”?  Can you please explain – is this why he, and fellow Leftists, believe they no longer need to follow its laws?

Now that SCOTUS Associate Justice Souter has announced his retirement at the end of the current term, what attributes would you advise Obama to seek in his replacement?

Now that Obama’s White House staff, along with the vaunted UAW (wow – what a payoff), are in position to run Government Motors (GM), how would this affect your desire to buy a GM vehicle in the future?

Would you favor a mass secession of States in order to effect “a more perfect union”, where Leftists, Progressives, Statist, Marxists, Socialists, and liberals in general could all live together in peace and harmony, while all the evil, obstructionist, homophobic, freedom-loving peoples could go their own way?  Why not?  Is secession a violent act?  Is secession a natural State’s right?  How so?

Why do leftists abhor people exercising their natural right of Freedom – except for themselves, of course?

As many collegiate-level institutions now require tuitions in excess of $100K in order to earn a degree, do you think the student is getting a fair deal?  How so?  How would you price tuition if you were in charge?

Are you ever “greedy”?  When?

I’ve been told that I am “selfish” when I don’t go along with the self-righteous altruist’s notion that I must “sacrifice” myself for [selected] others – by altruists who do not stand to do the sacrificing themselves.  Would you agree?  Do you consider yourself an altruist?

What’s the difference (if any) between someone who is responsible for themselves, maintains his self-esteem by being self-reliant, and someone who is being selfish?  Where’s the dividing line?  Are you ever selfish?  When?

Liberals keep telling us that the path to nirvana requires that they “stimulate” us by wasti-, uh, spending vast amounts of others people’s money, which they also enjoy seizing in ever-greater amounts.  Is government spending the same thing as “creating economic activity”?  Where does “wealth” come from?  Is “spending” creating wealth, or do you think it’s a special form of [forced] trade?  Is there really such thing as a “free lunch”?  How so?

Is there a point at which you believe that government spending overly-encumbers your children, and all of their progeny?  Please state a number, as a percentage of your children’s income, where you believe this burden becomes immoral?  How did you arrive at this number (if < 100)?

How many people in our country pay $0 net federal taxes (or actually get paid!)?  Is this fair?  How do you define a person’s “fair share” of the tax burden?

Would you be in favor of reducing the corporate income tax to 0%?  Why not?

Do you still fully support Obama, or were you not really for all of the things you used to tell me about?

Please, define “torture”.  Your unerring, super-righteous definition – no dictionaries.

If a terrorist hijacked and disappeared with a school bus full of kids, and you caught his accomplice, would you attempt to extract from him where his fellow terrorist was to drive the bus?  Would you interrogate him, especially if you believed that he had this information?  You believe the terrorists are going to decapitate the school children one by one.  At what point would you stop trying to extract their location from the terrorist?  In other words, at what point exactly would limit the force of your interrogation?

Now, the terrorist tells you that YOUR kids were on the bus.  At what point would you stop trying to extract their location from the terrorist?

If you believed you could save a child’s life by killing the terrorist, would you do it?  Would you condone it of others?

Are you for the imposition of the Orwellian “Fairness Doctrine” where liberals want to squelch voices from the Right, under the guise of “equal representation” on the airwaves?  How so?

When is BHO II going to stop the infantile blaming of everything on Bush II, and start taking responsibility for the job which you helped him usurp?

Are you onboard with this partial Obama legislative (spending) agenda, on top of the current fiscal disaster?

  • 1) Nationalizing / Socializing the entire American medical sector – roughly 20% of the country’s economy.
  • 2) A truly massive tax scheme on energy and industry called “Cap and Trade” – thus, lowering the standard of living of the American citizen.
  • 3) Further massive bailouts of Wall Street bankers, and a myriad of Democrat interest groups, to the tune of more hundreds of $Billions at a bare minimum.
  • 4) Continued nationalization of heavy industries starting with Autos.
  • 5) “Fixing” of Social Security, Medicare, and other entitlement programs
  • 6) The entire takeover of student loans, so that everyone will be entitled to a college education (and later will serve as the Socialists’ army of marionettes)
  • 7) The compulsory x-years’ service in Obama’s community assistance [agitation, D-propaganda] organizations.

Where is all the money for this socialist oligarchy dream going to come from?

Whatever happened to one of your favorite candidates, John “Silky Pony” Edwards?

Yours Forever,

-ThoughtRogue

Liberals clinically mad, concludes top psychiatrist

Tags: , , , , , , , ,

NC Sez:  I couldn’t concur enough!  When a lib doesn’t like what you believe in they call you names like small school children bullying others on the play ground.  Most libs can’t have a discussion based on reason and logic and then shake hands after wards saying, “We’ll have to agree to disagree,”  No they have to call you vile names instead.  That’s all they have in their arsenal of conversation! When libs don’t like who you support for political office they steal your signs.  When libs don’t like your speech they shut down your radio show, and and throw your flag in the bushes!  Yep, sounds like small,  bratty kids to me!

Eminent doctor makes case leftist ideology is a mental disorder

b1013WASHINGTON – Just when liberals thought it was safe to start identifying themselves as such, an acclaimed, veteran psychiatrist is making the case that the ideology motivating them is actually amental disorder.

“Based on strikingly irrational beliefs and emotions, modern liberals relentlessly undermine the most important principles on which our freedoms were founded,” says Dr. Lyle Rossiter, author of the new book, “The Liberal Mind: The Psychological Causes of Political Madness.” ”Like spoiled, angry children, they rebel against the normal responsibilities of adulthood and demand that a parental government meet their needs from cradle to grave.”

While political activists on the other side of the spectrum have made similar observations, Rossiter boasts professional credentials and a life virtually free of activism and links to “the vast right-wing conspiracy.”

For more than 35 years he has diagnosed and treated more than 1,500 patients as a board-certified clinical psychiatrist and examined more than 2,700 civil and criminal cases as a board-certified forensic psychiatrist. He received his medical and psychiatric training at the University of Chicago.

HOW TO LAY OFF EMPLOYEES IN 2009

Tags: , , , , , , , ,

As a Business owner who employs 30 people, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barack Hussein Obama will be our next President, and that my Taxes and Fees will go up in a BIG way.

To compensate for these increases, I figure that our customers will have to see an increase in my fees of about 8%. I will also have to lay off six of my employees. This really bothered me as I believe we are family here and didn’t know how to choose who will have to go. So, this is what I did. I strolled thru the parking lot and found eight Obama bumper stickers on my employees’ cars. I have decided these folks will be the first to be laid off.

I can’t think of more fair way to approach this problem. If you have a better idea, let me know.

I am sending this letter to all business owners that I know.  Why don’t you?

The Obama supporters should consider this fairness since they believe in their messiah and he will take care of them.  No problem!

BETRAYAL ~The attempt to dismantle Democracy~

Tags: , , , , , , , , , ,

Behind the scenes, cloaked and virtually obscure for over thirty years, a determined and dedicated cabal has worked quietly and incessantly, formulating and building, maneuvering and manipulating, to get to this point in our history.  Socialists and Marxists have always had their eye on America, but we’ve seen them coming and we’ve vanquished the threat.  And they couldn’t succeed to any degree because they weren’t well organized.  All of that changed in 1971.  A book titled “Rules for Radicals” was written by a Socialist community-organizer turned radical-revolutionary, who offered up an incendiary playbook which gave detailed marching orders to the young violent radicals of the 1960’s.  The instructions were to stop the violence, to be patient, to go underground, and to slowly work into teaching institutions and government, and when the time was right, to pounce.  They are now poised.  In this paper I hope to disclose how they got here, who they are, and if there’s anything we can do about it.  I feel the fate of freedom and Democracy is in the balance.

by AlphaMail

I was at the scene of the Charles Manson murders.  I was a young Los Angeles police officer finishing the graveyard shift out of Wilshire Division when we were alerted that a mass murder had taken place overnight in the Hollywood Hills.  We didn’t ordinarily cross the divisional line which separated Wilshire and Hollywood Divisions unless it was necessary, but a mass homicide was rare and we figured we might be able to help other officers in the area.  We breached a minor technicality, and sped over the boundary into Hollywood and up into the high canyons to help.  When we arrived, I emerged from my patrol car and stepped into a surreal, grotesque, macabre corner of hell.  Words were written in blood, bodies were ravaged, and a pregnant woman was ruthlessly stabbed, butchered, and eviscerated.  I’m not really content to describe it any further.  Suffice to say, many a time I forestalled thoughts of that day–forcing them away into a sealed memory lockbox, simply to maintain a rational link to my past.

About the same time, there was a lot of civil unrest around the country, partly due to the Vietnam War, and in part due to a rising new socialist movement, where people were taking to the streets to protest what they termed the ‘oppression of the poor’.  A lot of people protested, our returning troops were being belittled, and demonstrators were trashing the American flag.  Most of the protesting activity was by the SDS, the Students for a Democratic Society, and by the Black Panthers among smaller groups, who gathered in the Los Angeles area around the U.C.L.A. campus, and at nearby liberal Occidental College.  Not to stereotype, but the core of the hard-line socialist agitators were ‘easy to read’, and they didn’t like America.  Having grown up in Portland in the mid-fifties, close to the Beatnik, Marxist-oriented Reed College, the most radical college of the time outside of San Francisco and Berkeley, these people were borderline, if not outright, communists.  I speak from experience, because I liked coffee and jazz so much, that while in my junior and senior years in high school I’d frequent the few small nondescript espresso houses next to Reed in the evenings.  The scruffy Stalin neophytes would talk about the ‘proletariat’ seizing power, the ‘bourgeoisie’ taking it in the shorts, and the ‘final showdown’, the overthrow of our government.  In case you don’t know, the proletariat is the Marxist version of today’s homeless, poverty-level-ACORN supporting individuals, and the bourgeoisie is today’s American middle-class.  These intense philosophizing rebels want to ‘dumb America down’ when it seems it would be so much easier, and more productive, to give people the education and ability to ‘smarten up’.

Not many of the dissident groups of the late-sixties were actually violent, but the SDS (later known as The Weather Underground) and the Black Panthers certainly were.  I was more interested in the Black Panthers because they had a strategy of speeding past a patrol car and enticing officers to pull them over.  When the officers stopped them and got out of the car, a following car full of armed, uniformed Panthers would drive by and try to blow the cops away.  It kept us on our toes.  The SDS at U.C.L.A. and Occidental were outside of Wilshire, and other divisions I worked later, so I really had no contact with them other than their being mentioned during pre-shift briefings and what I read, and saw on the news.  I figured the F.B.I. was watching them so I hadn’t really focused on the group.  But about four months after I’d been to that brutal, sickening slaughter in the hills above L.A., a cheering dissenter was shown on television, raving about the Manson murders to a few hundred Weathermen gathered for a so-called ‘War Council’ in Michigan.  Citing the murders, the young woman bellowed, while holding up three fingers to signify a fork, “I dig it!  First they killed those pigs and then they stuck a fork in their bellies…..Wild.”  The fork comment was made in regards to the fork plunged into the stomach of the 8 ½ month pregnant actress Sharon Tate.  I was fuming with anger at this screeching Neanderthal wench.  That was the first time I had ever seen Bernardine Dohrn or heard of her boyfriend Bill Ayers.

In 1967, many people, West and East, are celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the “Glorius” October Revolution. To help people understand more about what they are celebrating, we offer a few slices of the anniversary cake. We hope no one gets indigestion.

March, 1917

After the overthrow of the Czar and his government, the people of Russia began their uphill rush toward democracy. The Bolshevik Party worked among the intellectuals, laborers and peasants striving toward the peak. The Party pulled a small and well disciplined organization behind it.

The Party unselfishly led the way to the top.
