The Many Moods of Condi
I was reading a piece on how Condi Rice decided to take the word “Jihad” out of the government dictionary as a BAADDD word to use when discussing the War of Terror. That got me to thinking:
Picture this: in America there are 330,000,000 new dictionaries, or there about, which each one is written by each individual. The meanings of words are defined by that person’s environment, how they feel for that day, if they have eaten, or gotten sleep, what filters they view life through, and the level of education they possess, and let’s not forget how easily they are offended.
What would the dialogue between people, schools, news organizations, and people of faith, look like if every person had their own sets of definitions?
Add to the confusion, that no one knows that each person is using their own dictionary, and those involved with any particular conversation is expected to just know, I guess, by ESP, what the definitions are of the terms being used! Would not the world be a jumbled mess of confusion? Would it be easier to start a war because people were all using different meanings to words and no one knew it? Would neighbors get along better if each neighbor possessed their own unique dictionary?
This all sounds crazy, and insane, which I completely agree. However, in our present era, Western Civilization is actually communicating according to the error of postmodernism.
This is where revisionist history originates, and this is why news media decide why they report what they report, and how they report it, instead of reporting the news because the public has a right to know! Now the media reports “news fit to print” manipulated by the media.
They redefine words right before your very eyes, and expect you, the hearer and reader, to unquestioningly accept it and believe it as truth and fact which unfortunately most people do!
In addition to postmodernism wreaking havoc on communication, it is also a dangerous anti-philosophy, and in order to understand this craziness going on in America, we have to first understand what it is we are seeing.
Postmodernism denies both the questions of being and knowing, and only focuses on the questions of subjective experience and the construction of meaning in an otherwise meaningless universe. No, I do not believe at all, that the universe is meaningless. Quite the contrary, but the postmodernists believe there is no meaning outside of themselves (and probably inside them as well!). They are in positions of power and influence, and seem to be the ones constructing what “that” meaning is for themselves and anyone else, and you get to construct your own meaning too. Therein lies the problem.
There is an objective Reality and Truth that is outside of the human being, and once we deny that fact, the gates of critical thinking are closed, and the hell hole of personal definitions are opened for all to be swallowed up in. I took a 200 level communications class once (at a christian university no less!), where the teacher and the text book literally taught this mantra:
“Words have no meaning, people do.”
I hadn’t been in school for quite a while so my age must have been catching up with me. I was a journalist student a zillions ago and words had meaning back then. What changed between then and now? It wasn’t me who changed in the definition of the word “word.” It was the era that changed, die Zeitgeist!
You and I are living in a time period where we all get to construct our own personal reality and “truth”, our own lives, and our own words. So when one hears the phrase, “words don’t mean, people do,” that’s what they mean! It is imperative for us all to be on guard for what it is these postmodernists are attempting to do with our minds!
Now that we have a little bit of an idea of what postmodernism is, we can start to understand where political correctness, multiculturalism, and moral equivalences came from, and why.
One can see that if it’s acceptable to throw objective Truth and Reality out the window, and adopt the relativistic stance of “That may be your truth, but that’s not how I believe!” one can see that we end up with 330,000,000 dictionaries filled with meanings fit for the individual, but not fit for the neighborhood, or country as a whole, and therefore any foundation for unified community is undermined and destroyed. Yes, we have the all important diversity, but we have no unity thus divided We fall!
Everyone does what seems right in their own eyes.
I don’t want to expound too much into philosophy in this post, but it is critical to understand that there is a Right and a Wrong outside of ourselves and our own desires, and anyone who tells you that there isn’t a clear and objective standard of Right and Wrong is a denier of Reality because he himself is making a right or wrong judgement about Right and Wrong.
Condi Rice has made a moral judgement regarding the dialogue in this War against humanity and Civilization. She has been swept up by postmodern dogma and it’s imperative that we reject it vociferously!
There is a JIHAD going on in America, and around the world. Millions of innocent people have died at the hands of this Jihad. Rice taking out the word “jihad” from government dictionaries will not change the FACTS and TRUTH and REALITY that millions have died and continue to die at the hands of JIHAD!
The only thing accomplished by removing this word is the ability to communicate this fact. Shame on You Condi Rice. You’re not as smart as I thought you were!
