No More Muslim Sexual Stereotyping

Warning.

If you are employed by airport security, do not frisk terror suspects with mustaches in women’s garb.

If you work for Homeland Security, do not pat down Middle Easterners with pointed objects protruding from their full length black burqas.

Should the Muslims in questions be men in drag or trans-genders, you may be dragged before the international court of law at The Hague for a human rights violation.

The United Nations General Assembly is considering a blanket ban on security measures taken to detect terrorists that “risk unduly penalizing transgender persons whose personal appearance and data are subject to change.”

Martin Scheinin, a UN Special Rapporteur, in a report to the international body of legislators says that current security practices are offensive to “persons of diverse sexual orientation and gender identities.”

A Special Rapporteur is an individual who works for the United Nations under a mandate from the UN Human Rights Committee.
In the report, Mr. Scheinin writes: “Enhanced immigration controls that focus attention on male bombers who may be dressing as females to avoid scrutiny make transgender persons susceptible to increased harassment and suspicion.”

The Special Rapporteur goes on to contend: “Counter-terrorism measures that involve increased travel document security, such as stricter procedures for issuing, changing and verifying identity documents, risk unduly penalizing transgender persons whose personal appearance and data are subject to change. This jeopardizes the right of persons of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities to recognition before the law”

Frank Gaffney, founder and president of the Center for Security Policy, expressed his outrage at the report in an interview with CNSNews.com

“It strikes me as a parody of U.N. political correctness and sexual universality,” Mr. Gaffney said, “and it’s just hard for me to believe that anybody thinks that these notions actually should trump security concerns – as I think it’s only too clear that … the people who are trying to blow us up have absolutely no use for any of these sexual proclivities.”

Gaffney also pointed out that terrorists “would be only too delighted to take advantage – indeed we’ve seen them taking advantage – of burqas and other subterfuges to disguise their malign intents.”

In the report, Mr. Scheinin also takes aim at perceived gender roles, suggesting that counter-terror practices involving both sexes be reevaluated due to their basis in traditional perceptions of gender. He writes: “The United Kingdom anti-radicalization initiatives seeking to include Muslim women as counter-terrorism agents on the basis of their position ‘at the heart not only of their communities but also of their families,’ may reinforce stereotypical gender norms about roles of women within the family.”

The use of masculine gender roles in counterterrorism also draws Scheinin’s ire. He says that “techniques that seek to evoke feelings of emasculation in detainees or suspected terrorists may hinder the fight against terrorism by provoking hyper-masculine responses that include acceptance or advocacy of violence.”

Steven Groves, a fellow at the conservative Heritage Foundation, expressed a lack of surprise at the report, saying that it was comparable with Scheinin’s past work for the UN and typical of the UN Human Rights Council.

“Instead of the Human Rights Council focusing how the human rights of people who are blown apart by terrorists impact people’s human rights,” Groves said, “they created a new office for someone to go and make sure that the terrorists’ human rights, and the human rights of almost everyone else – except for the victims of terrorism – are being protected, and so that is (Scheinin’s) mission.”

September 22 – New Day of Infamy Dawns

It happens today.

The House Committee on Education and Labor will hold a hearing on H.R. 3017, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), an LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) piece of legislation designed to strip all American business owners of their First Amendment rights.

The hearing begins at 10 a.m. EST and will be webcast.

The Employment Non-Discrimination Act is designed to make homosexuals, bisexuals, drag queens, cross-dressers and transsexuals into federally-protected minority groups. Once enacted, the latest legislation from the Obama Administration will produce the following results:

A. Businesses, as well as local, state, and federal governments, including public schools, will be forced to hire gays, lesbians and transgenders.

B. Christian-owned businesses will have to make accommodations for gay, lesbian, bisexual and individuals with a Gender Identity Disorder who believe they are the opposite sex.

C. The Act will forbid any employer from refusing to hire or promote a person because of his “sexual orientation” or his “gender identity” (cross-dressers, transsexuals, drag queens). A deviant from traditional morality who is turned down for a job or promotion can claim discrimination as a member of a federally-protected minority – and the employer can be prosecuted by the federal government. Every business owner will be liable for criminal prosecution if he or she fails to hire or promote a transgender person. Under ENDA, businesses throughout the country will face an army of federal lawyers to fight claims of discrimination from gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgenders. Defense costs will force most of these workplaces out of business.

D. ENDA will provide no exemption for Christian businesses or Christian camps, religious broadcasters and other religious entities! An independent Christian camp with 15 or more employees will be obliged to operate in accordance with the standards of the new legislation. Such a camp will be in violation of federal law for not hiring homosexuals, bisexuals and transsexuals or cross-dressers.

E. The new Act will be handled by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. President Obama has nominated lesbian activist lawyer Chai Feldblum to serve a 5-year term on the EEOC. Ms. Feldblum wrote ENDA and is expected to be ruthless in the enforcement of its stipulations.

According to Andrea Lafferty, Executive Director of the Traditional Values Coalition, the LGBT community wants to use ENDA to force churches, Boy Scouts, Christian schools, Armed Services, religious broadcasters, and all aspects of American culture to comply with their demands for affirmation and forced acceptance.

“They will want quotas, training programs, shared shower and dressing facilities, gay marriage, married couple benefits, data collection to ensure compliance with their demands, jail time for non-compliance, and attorney fees for lawsuits,” Ms. Lafferty says.

NC Sez: Even though the mantra of the left is “Don’t shove your religion down my throat,” the progressives have down a damn good job shoving their religion down our throats!  The religion of secular humanism, which has killed more people on planet earth than virtually all religions put together,  except the faux religion of islam, and islam isn’t a religion but rather a political system containing a religion so it doesn’t count.  Secular humanism is also a political system that contains a religion with in it as well. Both Islam and Secular Humanism are nihilistic ideologies that end up destroying humanity. Both of these political systems have to force others to comply through coercive legislation and deceptive propaganda towards our children otherwise the secular humanists will weed themselves out if they actually told the truth! The two RITES of Secular Humanism, abortion and homosexuality, can not exist through honest evangelism,  thus the need for coercion and deception.

I have been to Sodom in Israel many times. The earth in Sodom is different from that in other areas: finely powdered ash deposits several meters deep, and Splatter formations where molten bituminous material (asphalt-like, i.e. “brimstone”) once dropped from the Sodomite sky are present in this area where cities once flourished.

You know. I was shaving the other day and as I gazed into the mirror I said to myself....:Hot damn Sarge! You shore 'nuff would make a right beautiful woman!

Renee Ramsey is recovering from the surgery that she’s been dreaming of for decades.

“Since I was about 13, I always knew something was different,” said Renee.

She used to be Richard; a green beret specialist in Vietnam. A tough guy who privately dreamed of wearing dresses.

“It was weird cause as much as I wanted to dress like a lady, I didn’t say anything. I knew if I did I would be discharged,” said Renee.

She was in the military for over 20 years and married twice. She says Richard eventually started to dress like a woman, but switched back into the uniform for official duties.

Ready for a Christian take of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show?”

Then head off to Grand Rapids, Michigan, where the United Church of Christ is sponsoring a “Growing Bold” gathering.

The event, according to UCC officials, will be a “celebration” of the denomination’s “lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender sisters and brothers” and a demand for “their full inclusion in church and society.”

The three day gathering gets underway June 22 at the Grand Rapids Crowne Royal Hotel.

Registration fee is $150.00.

It is unknown whether President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle will attend.

Mr. Obama has been an active member of the UCC since 1983 and a proponent of its doctrines. In 2007, he served as the keynote speaker at the denomination’s national convention.

The “Growing Bold” conference will feature an address by Reverend Julie Nemecek.

Rev. Nemecek has long, manicured fingernails and wears a curly brown wig, make-up, and dangling earrings.

But she is legally a man.

In 2007, Ms. Nemecek, then John Nemecek, was fired from her position as the Assistant Dean of Adult Studies at Spring Arbor University because she violated the terms of her contract with the conservative Methodist school by dressing as a woman and discussing with students and staff members her intention to change her gender.

The gender mender minister responded to the dismissal by filing a complaint with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity, claiming that the university had discriminated against her because of her sex and her “gender identity disorder.”

“Gender identity disorder is a psychological diagnosis of a medical condition,” she said. “Until I transitioned, I could not believe how happy I would become.”

In recent years, Rev. Nemecek has received hormone therapy and she has legally changed her name, However, she admits, the box on her driver’s license still must be checked “M” for male.

Rev. Nemecek and his wife Joanne are the parents of three grown sons.

Joanne, the pastor’s spouse, is a registered nurse, who is studying to be a social worker. She has not fully accepted the prospect of suddenly becoming a lesbian. Joanne said she grieves the loss of her husband after 36 years of marriage and is still working toward complete acceptance. “I am not as openly affectionate in public as I once was,” Joanne admits. “It still takes me back when, at a restaurant, they say ‘ladies’ or ask ‘two bills or one?’”

Along with the appearance of Reverend Nemecek, Reverend Hector Lopez, a minister from a small Latino church in southern California, who “experienced a passionate conversion” while performing a same-sex marriage, will offer a keynote address.

Also present at the podium will be Urvashi Vaid, the former Executive Director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, who has been named one of Out magazines most influential men and women. Ms. Vaid lives in Manhattan and Provincetown, Massachusetts, with her partner comedian Kate Clinton.

Following the speeches and the “agape” sessions, those in attendance will be treated to a presentation of “All the Little Children,” a play about a gay man who returns to his church as a minister.

The activities at the UCC gathering mirror the faith of Mr. Obama, who upholds his denomination’s unorthodox take on Christian doctrine.

“When I read the Bible,” Mr. Obama has written, “I do so with the belief that it is not a static text but the Living Word and that I must be continually open to new revelations whether they come from a lesbian friend or a doctor opposed to abortion.”

“Fisting [forcing one's entire hand into another person's rectum or vagina] often gets a bad rap….[It's] an experience of letting somebody into your body that you want to be that close and intimate with…[and] to put you into an exploratory mode.”

Have you wondered what homosexual activists do when they are alone with kids in the tax-funded “gay clubs” in schools and other activities?  It’s not pretty. In fact, it’s very disgusting. Now you can hear for yourself.

The above quotation comes from Massachusetts Department of Education employees describing the pleasures of homosexual sex to a group of high school students at a state-sponsored workshop on March 25, 2000.

We have the actual audio recordings of what went on at one such event in March of 2000. Children as young as 12 were instructed by adults (state employees!) how to perform a range of dangerous and perverted homosexual sex acts.

These included: homosexual oral sex techniques, inserting one’s entire hand in someone else’s rectum, sado-masochism techniques, girls using “dildos” and rubbing their sex organs together for pleasure, and much more.

When we revealed this to the world a few months later it made national news. It was reported in all the Boston media – radio, TV and newspapers – and several national networks. FOX News came to Boston from New York to report on it.  We made sure that each member of the Massachusetts Legislature was given a copy of the tape.

GLSEN (and Kevin Jennings) did not dispute that the recordings were genuine or that the events did not take place as we described them. Instead, they tried to get a court to ban the tape and sue us. In fact, Jennings defended the event.

But the Massachusetts Legislature wasn’t fazed. They caved in to the powerful homosexual movement. They have continued to fund GLSEN with taxpayer money. And in 2006 the Legislature wrote GLSEN into the general laws as a mandated member of the tax-supported Massachusetts Commission for GLBT Youth. This is the low opinion that our legislators have of your children.

On April 18, 2000, Scott Whiteman, who attended the GLSEN conference and made the recordings, hand-delivered an affadavit describing the event to the office of Middlesex County District Attorney Martha Coakley. He received no response from Coakley, nor did she take any action whatsoever other than to acknowledge that she received the affadafit. (Martha Coakley is now the Massachusetts Attorney General and has recently raised money for homosexual activist causes.)

A few weeks after the incident Scott Whiteman, who was Executive Director Parents Rights Coalition (now known as MassResistance), collaborated with Brian Camenker, president of Parents Rights Coalition,  and wrote an article about it that was published in the May edition of Massachusetts News, a newspaper distributed across the state.  The incident was dubbed “Fistgate” by Massachusetts News publisher Ed Pawlick.  A week later the tapes were played on WTKK radio in Boston by evening talk show host Jeanine Graf. That sparked a media firestorm in Boston as excerpts from the tapes were played on radio and television news shows.

Soon afterwards, the three state employees were fired by the Department of Education.

The homosexual movement responded by persuading a Superior Court judge to ban the playing of the tapes, and then initiating a lawsuit against Camenker, Whiteman, and Parents Rights Coalition, claiming that they had violated an obscure and antiquated Massachusetts wiretapping law and seeking monetary damages. The “Gay and Lesbian Advocates and Defenders” (GLAD) — the same state-funded group that won the Goodridge same-sex “marriage” case — went right into action.

A few months later, Margot Abels, one of the fired instructors, managed to get an arbitrator in the Mass. Dept. of Education to reinstate her job. She didn’t take her job back, but instead initiated her own lawsuit against Camenker, Whiteman and Parents Rights Coalition to collect damages. She was completely unrepententof her actions with the kids in the conference.

“I don’t know that we would have done anything differently,” Abels arrogantly told the homosexual newspaper Bay Windows. “We didn’t feel like we had to hide our work. We didn’t feel like we had done anything wrong.”

After a years of court activity the GLAD lawsuit ended in 2005, when GLAD essentially abandoned the case. However, Margot Abels continued to pursue her lawsuit against Camenker and Whiteman. That suit was settled in 2006.

The terms of the settlements allow Camenker to distribute the tape and other information regarding the incident with no restrictions.

More on Obama’s Bughouse Denomination

At Sunday morning worship services, many members of the United Church of Christ (UCC), President Barack Obama’s denomination, now receive, along with the bulletin, a pack of condoms. The condoms are distributed without discrimination to the elderly, married couples, singles, and pubescent school children.

“Condoms,” according to UCC’s HIV and AIDS Executive Director Reverend Mike Schunemeyer, “are a sign that people of faith take sexuality seriously as part of human life and that we endorse all options for preventing HIV infection and other sexually transmitted diseases.”

The denomination’s decision to promote the rubber industry came in response to Pope Benedict XVI’s statements that condoms are “not effective in preventing HIV” but only serve to perpetuate the problem.

The Pope’s teaching has met with considerable success in sub-Sahara Africa. In the last ten years, the HIV/AIDS rate in Uganda has been reduced from 15% to less than 6% of the country’s population in less than 10 years. African church leaders attribute this decline to Sister Miriam Duggan, a Roman Catholic nun and medical physician, and her “Education for Life” program.

Sr. Duggan’s program encourages Ugandans to be abstinent before marriage and faithful to their spouses by educating them about the life-threatening dangers of promiscuity.

The UCC is not impressed.

In the official statement concerning the condom distribution, UCC officials say:

“We cannot put our heads in the sand with abstinence only approaches. People can and do make other choices, and when they do, we must affirm and provide accurate safer sex information along with access to the means of protection. Making condoms available promotes honesty in sexual relationships and acknowledges the reality that people do have choices about their sexual behavior.” 

Many of the Church’s condoms bear the image of the Pope with the words: “I said no!”

The UCC statement further held:

“Human beings are sexual beings. Sex is a gift from God, to be shared with love and responsibility. In a world with HIV/AIDS, safer sex is a more loving and responsible – toward oneself and one’s partner – than unprotected sex.”

Alan Wisdom of the Institute on Religion & Democracy believes the UCC’s statement is dangerous.

“It sends a message to youth particularly, the kids who meet in their Sunday schools, that the church really has no expectation of them in terms of sexuality, that it expects them to enter into multiple sexual relationships in the same way the world does, and that its only concern is they not pick up diseases,” he notes.

The UCC’s condom distribution is another step in the denomination’s departure from its Puritan roots, Wisdom adds.

Remarking that the UCC was “quick to criticize Pope Benedict” for voicing doubts about condoms as the solution to HIV/AIDS, Wisdom suggests the denomination should consider why Catholics oppose artificial contraception:

“because it turns sex into an activity in which persons instrumentalize one another’s bodies for pleasure, thus promoting the kind of promiscuity that accelerates the spread of HIV/AIDS.”

One UCC minister who decried Pope Benedict’s position and called for the widespread distribution of condoms among the faithful is Harry Knox.

Knox, who is a militant homosexual, said:

“The Pope needs to start telling the truth about condom use,” Knox said on Monday, Apr. 6. “We are eager to help him do that. Until he is willing to do that and able, he’s doing a great deal more harm than good — not just in Africa but around the world. It is endangering people’s lives.”

Mr. Obama has appointed Rev. Knox to his Advisory Council on Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships.

In response to his appointment, Rev. Knox said:

“I hope this council will draw upon the richness of our unique perspectives to advise the president on policies that will improve the lives of all the people we have been called to serve.”

Rev. Knox added: “The lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community is eager to help the Administration achieve its goals around economic recovery and fighting poverty; fatherhood and healthy families; inter-religious dialogue; care for the environment; and global poverty, health and development.”

Safeway Stores Proudly Displaying Sodomy as an acceptable behavior!

June was declared Gay Pride Month by Obama.  Nowhere in the Bible do we ever see Pride held up as a Virtue; so when we see it being held up as a good thing in this postmodern Culture, it is time that we vigorously speak out against it in every way possible. Pride sends people to Hell. It is that simple. If we truly care about people, we would never tolerate the unrestrained expression of Pride in any situation whatsoever. So it is now time to strike back against Pride.

It is killing homosexuals by causing them to go deeper into denial concerning their undesirable psychological disability. Denial, and the Pride that accompanies it,  is always disastrous when it pertains to any physiological addiction or psychological obsession or disability.

We never see an Alcoholics Pride Parade or Alcoholics Pride Month. Instead we see Alcoholics Anonymous, because they are all about humble acceptance of their condition, and the humble admission that they need help from a Higher Power. How are we being good or loving to homosexuals by the encouragement of Denial and Pride?

(NEW YORK)(June 1, 2009) This is a difficult column for me to write. As a man of the 60’s, my views on sexual morality are definitely liberal. With age has come tolerance. I passionately believe in an expansive personal right to privacy. You can read my blogs and won’t find anything on the gay marriage brouhaha. I have stayed away from the controversy because of close friends on both sides of the divide.

NC asks:  Tolerance?  I’m sick and tired of this redefined word.  Why not call it what it really is?  Acceptance for something abnormal, normal people see as disgusting behavior,  by people who want to mask their shame through demanding others to accept it hoping the shame will go away

 The media and politicians have been focused on Judge Sonia Sotomayor’s judicial decisions. They may be looking in the wrong place for an insight into her character and disposition.

NC points outs:  Ya think?  Let’s see:  La Raza, bath houses, communist training camps called ivy league universities . . . .

 My personal views and reluctance to write about sexual identity have to yield to the political reality that Judge Sonia Sotomayor has been living a carefully orchestrated secret life. Her personal life, particularly the concealed aspects of her life, bear on her fitness for the Supreme Court and reflect an invisible bias that will undoubtedly affect her voting on issues such as gay marriage.

NC Sez:  Good, I’m glad there is a lib out there willing to admit to this fact!

 The bestselling novel “Advise and Consent” by Allen Drury was based on the secret sexuality of a U. S. Senator. Ms. Sotomayor could be heading towards a similar “Advise and Consent” moment.

NC Sez: yeah, but they media will never go there, so us bloggers have to go there and scoop the Obamamediacorp!

 Before getting into the particulars of our investigation we start with the obvious fact that “sexuality” is not a state; sexuality is manifested as a continuum of human behavior and orientation. None of us is either completely heterosexual or completely homosexual. One set of genes and or conditions usually predominate; then there are those whose sexuality is ambiguous because their personal makeup is ambiguous or balanced.

NC Sez:  Whatever! They call this kind of “science”,  post modern science in post-america!  I am a proud heterosexual and there is NOT one drop of homo in me and most of America! This kind of idiotic statement is code for manipulating ” YOU to accept what once was called a mental illness”

 There are three reasons why repressed or suppressed sexuality or closeted social behavior can be critical to a public employee, especially a Supreme Court justice.

NC asks:  Is the post modern, complacent, end times church,  really the Body of the Messiah,  or are they part of the whore that rides the beast?

Based on the passage above, St. Augustine argued that complacency (obsequium) in the face of evil is the greatest evil. It’s difficult to disagree with him. Since evil represents nothingness in traditional Christian theology, failure to do or say anything when faced with sin, injustice, or acts of inhumanity represents the most contemptible act of any believer.

Why then are Christian congregations not up in arms over the pronouncements of Barrack Hussein Obama and other elected officials that America is no longer a Christian nation; that Christians and Jews worship the same god as Muslims; that same sex marriage must be condoned; that gays are not perverts; that licentious conduct and speech must be tolerated; that speaking of sin represents a hate crime; and that the murder of millions of unborn babies is an essential element of American liberty?

The reason offered by namby-pamby mainline denominations, including purpose driven Baptists, is always the same. St. Paul, they maintain, instructs all believers to submit to worldly authority, even the authority of evil or unjust rulers (Romans 13: 1-5).

NC pauses here to make a statement about Romans 13.  Romans 13  is not a scriptural directive for Believers to obey “authority” simply because the gov’t is in so called authority.  For example, should Believers obey Barack Hussein Obama because he was elected by men?  Does an election actually translate into God appointing him?   This interpretation of Romans 13 is a lie!  B-Ho for example,  was NOT appointed by God. The OFFICE of the Presidency, created by the Constitution which in turn,  was created by men does not translate into God appointing or approving that madman or any other madman!  YHVH does not approve, nor appoint mass murdering, control freaks like HITLER or Stalin, or Jimmah Carter, or B-HO!  He simply orders human events according to HIS will,  and that is all that the word “ordain” means!  It also doesn’t mean that YOU are to submit to evil edicts!  Never let someone with authority beat you over the head with Romans 13 especially when they themselves are rebellious to YHVH’s Authority! 

But scripture remains clear that Christians must reject authority and take decisive action in circumstances relating to matters of faith. Shortly after Jesus ascended to heaven, Peter and John where arrested for preaching the name of Jesus and taken before the religious rulers. They were commanded to stop preaching in the name of Jesus and to stop trying to convert people to him.  But Peter and John replied, “Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God’s sight to obey you rather than God. The decision was between obeying God or obeying man. Peter and John had received a clear and specific command from Jesus, “Go and preach the Gospel to all the world”. The religious leaders gave them a clear and specific command to not preach the gospel. The choice was clear, they had to obey God rather than man. So they continued to preach. The result was that they were persecuted, tossed into dungeons, and put to death.

This teaching is supported by the full weight of scriptural authority. Did Moses violate God’s principle of submission to authority when he killed the Egyptian taskmaster in defense of his fellow Hebrew? Did Elijah violate God’s principle of submission to authority when he openly challenged Ahab and Jezebel? Did David violate God’s principle of submission to authority when he refused to surrender to Saul’s troops? Did Daniel violate God’s principle of submission to authority when he disobeyed the king’s law to not pray audibly to God? Did the three Hebrew children violate God’s principle of submission to authority when they refused to bow to the image of the state? Did John the Baptist violate God’s principle of submission to authority when he publicly scolded King Herod for his infidelity? Did Simon Peter and the other Apostles violate God’s principle of submission to authority when they refused to stop preaching on the streets of Jerusalem? Did Paul violate God’s principle of submission to authority when he refused to obey those authorities who demanded that he abandon his missionary work? In fact, Paul spent almost as much time in jail as he did out of jail.

When those in authority attempt to require us to violate God’s commandments (yes, even the teachings concerning homosexuality), our only choice is to rebel and to stand firm for truth and righteousness. But we must not forget that refusing to obey the human authority and to adher to the Word of God does not come with a guarantee that we will not suffer for our stance and rebellion. Daniel was thrown to the lions and God saved him, but thousands of early Christians were not saved from the lions. They suffered martyrdom for insisting on preaching the name of Jesus.

We make a grave mistake when we think that obeying God rather than men should result in things being wonderful for us. Often this is not the case. By decrying evil, you more likely than not will be criticized, condemned, sued (even in Canada), or tossed in a paddy wagon for taking part in a public demonstration. But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. 1 Peter 2:20.

Vote looms on legislation that could outlaw preaching on homosexuality

House Democrats have announced a vote could come as early as tomorrow on a “hate crimes” bill that supporters admit might allow federal officials to prosecute Christians who speak out against homosexual behavior.

The Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2009, or H.R. 1913, passed through committee last week, and according to the Weekly Leader published by the office of House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., the bill joins 14 others that could be brought to the floor for a vote sometime between noon tomorrow and the end of the week.

Meanwhile, advocates for the bill are engaged in a strong push to see it passed.

The Human Rights Campaign, which calls itself the largest national lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender – or LGBT – civil rights organization, has designated April 27-29 for a national call-in campaign, urging supporters to contact Congress and pressure the bill’s passage.

“We need more calls to Members of Congress, and we need them right away,” said HRC President Joe Solmonese. “It has been ten long years and tens of thousands more victims since the Matthew Shepard Act was first introduced in Congress. We are poised for a presidential signature this year, but lies from the radical right could easily derail our efforts.”

A number of groups – including the American Civil Liberties Union, the National Council on La Raza, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the American Association of People with Disabilities, among others – announced formation of a national coalition to urge Congress to pass H.R. 1913.

One of the coalition members, the Jewish Council for Public Affairs, announced last week that it has sent letters to all 435 members of the House of Representatives in support of the bill.

Tom Strode of the Baptist Press, however, reports that H.R. 1913 “adds ’sexual orientation’ and ‘gender identity’ to the current classes – including race, religion and national origin – protected from hate crimes,” a measure that worries many people of faiths that deem LGBT sexual behavior as immoral.

When a nearly identical plan was developed in the last Congress, Rep. Artur Davis, D-Ala., admitted during a hearing on the bill it could be used to prosecute pastors merely for preaching against homosexuality under the premise that they could be “inducing” violence in someone.

The bill ultimately failed then because President Bush determined it was unnecessary – the crimes banned in the legislation already are addressed by other laws – and it probably was unconstitutional.

“The federal hate crimes bill is bad news for everyone,” said Brad Dacus of Pacific Justice Institute, who testified in Congress against the bill two years ago.

“Instead of treating all crime victims equally, it creates a caste system where select groups, such as gays and lesbians, are given greater priority in the criminal justice system. This is not progress; it is political correctness. In other nations and states, the adoption of hate crimes legislation has been the first step toward widespread suppression of speech and ideas critical of homosexuality,” he said.

Matt Barber of Liberty Counsel has spoken out against H.R. 1913 a number of times.

“As has proved to be true in both Europe and Canada, this Orwellian piece of legislation is the direct precursor to freedom killing and speech chilling ‘hate speech’ laws. It represents a thinly veiled effort to ultimately silence – under penalty of law – morally, medically and biblically based opposition to the homosexual lifestyle,” he said.

Barber said the 14th Amendment already provides that victims of violent crimes are afforded equal protection under the law “regardless of sexual preference or proclivity.”

“If passed, H.R. 1913 will change all that. It overtly and, most likely, unconstitutionally, discriminates against millions of Americans by granting federally preferred status, time and resources to individuals who define their identity based upon aberrant sexual behaviors (i.e.,’gay’ and lesbian ’sexual orientation’ or cross-dressing ‘gender identity’),” he said.

He also said there is “zero evidence” suggesting homosexuals do not get equal protection now.
