Open Letter to:

Mr. David Reichert

Republican Representative

Washington State Delegation

June 30th, 2009

Dear Mr. Reichert,

Please, resign your seat in the U.S. House of Representatives because of your “Yes” vote in favor of the abominable “Cap and Trade” or “Climate Change” bill – and without having even read the final bill in its entirety before voting on it.  Your egregious voting record does not represent me, or of any Republican that I know.

Since your debut in Congress, I have been watching your sorry voting rating, from the American Conservative Union (ACU), steadily decline from a score of 64 (out of 100) in 2005, to a low, thus far, of 48 in 2007 – you have voted consistently with the fringe Left of the Republican party in the House – even more so the last two years under Speaker Pelosi.  Sir, you are a RINO’s RINO if there ever was one.

I knew something was drastically broken with your moral compass when, right out of the gate in 2005, on that Palm Sunday, when you voted against allowing a federal intervention in the Terri Schiavo state murder, where you helped deny her loving family from merely giving their daughter some comforting water, while she was slowly, and painfully starved to death.  Her cruel death at the hands of the State, would never, ever have been allowed to take place in such a manner if ending the life of the most monstrous inmate on death row.  Please, resign your seat, now.

Which segues us to your buddy, Gary Ridgeway – one of the most prolific serial killers of all time – who you have ridden to fame and power by single-handedly “apprehending” him!  How’s Mr. Ridgeway faring these days – continuing to fantasize until he dies of old age about his 50, 60, 70(?) horrific strangulations of beautiful, innocent girls?  Oh, and the necrophilia!  In your coming retirement, perhaps Gary can join you, on furloughs you have arranged, to mind the gift shop part-time at your Green River Killer Catcher museum?  Or, rather, how about giving Gary a little of the treatment you gave Terri?

I’ve observed your many, many votes in favor of prolific federal spending, especially for out-of-control social programs galore, your votes against curbs on pork and spending limits, your votes to continue a moratorium on domestic oil and gas drilling and exploration, in favor of Orwellian “hate-crime” laws, skyrocketing the federal minimum wage, expanding the laws for union bosses to continue their thuggery in the labor markets, and expansion of embryonic stem cell research.  Which planks of the Republican Platform do you actually believe in besides supporting our military personnel?  You even voted on a gigantic pork-filled bailout bill recently which you didn’t even read!  Please, resign, now.

On the eve of voting on the ridiculous “Cap and Trade” monster energy-tax bill, based on the most dubious “science” ever, I called your office in Washington, D.C.  I asked the girl who answered what your position was on the bill.  She said that you didn’t have one.  Really?  Just a few hours before the big vote?  I didn’t ask her how your were going to vote – just what your current position was.  I then asked her if you took an Oath to support and defend the U.S. Constitution when you assumed your office.  She said she didn’t really know.  I asked if you, or she, knew anything about our Constitution, such as what the Amendment X actually means.  Again, she really couldn’t tell me anything.  Question:  Does your call answerer play with her Silky Pony and Barbie dolls when she’s not answering calls for you in the Big Office?  Funny, but I’m willing to bet anything, based on all of my observations, that you and she probably have the same depth of understanding of our Constitution – which now lies in tatters – precisely because power-hungry clowns such as yourself continue to violate it daily.

Case in point: You don’t even read the legislation in its final form, in its entirety before voting on it – such as was the case again with the “Cap and Trade” bill.  We can prove this in this case because at least three hundred pages of revisions were submitted at 3:00am last Friday morning, mere hours before the vote.  Making the final copy of the bill well over 1,200 pages – it was a physical impossibility for ANYONE in the House to have read a final copy of the bill, in its entirety, before voting on it.  And I watched the circus unfold on C-SPAN, and what I witnessed was not due process and proper deliberation – but an abomination.  But you, Sir, voted “Yes” on it anyway – screw the American People and the Citizens of the 8th District of Washington and their ‘representation’ in Congress.

Mr. Reichert, resign your seat in Congress.  You now epitomize what is wrong with our system and why it is broken.  To paraphrase an American hero, Ronald Reagan, “You, Sir, are not a part of the solution – you are the problem.”  I am told I am to refer to you as “The Honorable” congressman, but your actions do not warrant it.  I will, continue to use ‘Sir’, as I would like to express just enough respect to encourage you to resign honorably.

Better yet, assuming you and your ilk want desperately to retain your power and perks, please consider defecting to the Demonrat party.  I’d be willing to bet they’d make a very cushy position for you in a heartbeat.  Turn in your tarnished star, empty holster, and empty suit to your nearest Republican office, and start walking toward enemy lines to be welcomed.  You are no longer welcome here.  We’ve had enough of you.  GO!!

Sincerely,

-Jefferson Paine, Constituent, 8th-District, WA

The ‘Cap and Trade’ Tax Scheme is Imminent

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

TR:  Folks, NOW is the time for you to call your Congress-person and give them an earful.  Before Congress attempts to shove Socialized Medicine (ObamaCare) down your throat, they will very soon vote to first cram your gullet full of their disastrous “Cap and Trade” tax scheme – arguably the largest tax increase in American history – while their own climate “experts” acknowledge that it will accomplish next to nothing in regulating the Earth’s temperature.  Call your Congress-critter NOW and tell them “Hell, NO”.  The House switchboard is  202-224-3121.

Democrats off-loading economics to pass climate change bill.

By The Wall Street Journal, Opinion

Cap and Trade - Wealth Killer

Cap and Trade - Wealth Killer

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has put cap-and-trade legislation on a forced march through the House, and the bill may get a full vote as early as Friday [June 26th, 2009]. It looks as if the Democrats will have to destroy the discipline of economics to get it done.

Despite House Energy and Commerce Chairman Henry Waxman’s many payoffs to Members, rural and Blue Dog Democrats remain wary of voting for a bill that will impose crushing costs on their home-district businesses and consumers. The leadership’s solution to this problem is to simply claim the bill defies the laws of economics.

Their gambit got a boost this week, when the Congressional Budget Office did an analysis of what has come to be known as the Waxman-Markey bill. According to the CBO, the climate legislation would cost the average household only $175 a year by 2020. Edward Markey, Mr. Waxman’s co-author, instantly set to crowing that the cost of upending the entire energy economy would be no more than a postage stamp a day for the average household. Amazing. A closer look at the CBO analysis finds that it contains so many caveats as to render it useless.

For starters, the CBO estimate is a one-year snapshot of taxes that will extend to infinity. Under a cap-and-trade system, government sets a cap on the total amount of carbon that can be emitted nationally; companies then buy or sell permits to emit CO2. The cap gets cranked down over time to reduce total carbon emissions.

Henry "Nostrilitus" Waxman

Henry "Nostrilitus" Waxman

To get support for his bill, Mr. Waxman was forced to water down the cap in early years to please rural Democrats, and then severely ratchet it up in later years to please liberal Democrats. The CBO’s analysis looks solely at the year 2020, before most of the tough restrictions kick in. As the cap is tightened and companies are stripped of initial opportunities to “offset” their emissions, the price of permits will skyrocket beyond the CBO estimate of $28 per ton of carbon. The corporate costs of buying these expensive permits will be passed to consumers.

The biggest doozy in the CBO analysis was its extraordinary decision to look only at the day-to-day costs of operating a trading program, rather than the wider consequences energy restriction would have on the economy. The CBO acknowledges this in a footnote: “The resource cost does not indicate the potential decrease in gross domestic product (GDP) that could result from the cap.”

The hit to GDP is the real threat in this bill. The whole point of cap and trade is to hike the price of electricity and gas so that Americans will use less. These higher prices will show up not just in electricity bills or at the gas station but in every manufactured good, from food to cars. Consumers will cut back on spending, which in turn will cut back on production, which results in fewer jobs created or higher unemployment. Some companies will instead move their operations overseas, with the same result.

When the Heritage Foundation did its analysis of Waxman-Markey, it broadly compared the economy with and without the carbon tax. Under this more comprehensive scenario, it found Waxman-Markey would cost the economy $161 billion in 2020, which is $1,870 for a family of four. As the bill’s restrictions kick in, that number rises to $6,800 for a family of four by 2035.

Note also that the CBO analysis is an average for the country as a whole. It doesn’t take into account the fact that certain regions and populations will be more severely hit than others — manufacturing states more than service states; coal producing states more than states that rely on hydro or natural gas. Low-income Americans, who devote more of their disposable income to energy, have more to lose than high-income families.

Even as Democrats have promised that this cap-and-trade legislation won’t pinch wallets, behind the scenes they’ve acknowledged the energy price tsunami that is coming. During the brief few days in which the bill was debated in the House Energy Committee, Republicans offered three amendments: one to suspend the program if gas hit $5 a gallon; one to suspend the program if electricity prices rose 10% over 2009; and one to suspend the program if unemployment rates hit 15%. Democrats defeated all of them.

The reality is that cost estimates for climate legislation are as unreliable as the models predicting climate change. What comes out of the computer is a function of what politicians type in. A better indicator might be what other countries are already experiencing. Britain’s Taxpayer Alliance estimates the average family there is paying nearly $1,300 a year in green taxes for carbon-cutting programs in effect only a few years.

Americans should know that those Members who vote for this climate bill are voting for what is likely to be the biggest tax in American history. Even Democrats can’t repeal that reality.

“Green” Wind Turbines’ “dirty” Power is hazardous to your Health

Modern Wind Turbines Generate Dangerously “Dirty” Electricity

Wind turbines are causing serious health problems. These health problems are often associated, by the people having them, with the flicker and the noise from the wind turbines. This often leads to reports being discounted.

Residents of the area around the Ripley Wind Farm in Ontario where Enercon E82 wind turbines are installed feel that the turbines are making them ill. Residents suffer from ringing in the ears, headaches, sleeplessness, dangerously elevated blood pressure (requiring medication), heart palpitations, itching in the ears, eye watering, earaches, and pressure on the chest causing them to fight to breathe. The symptoms disappear when the residents leave the area. Four residents were forced to move out of their homes, the symptoms were so bad. Residents also complain of poor radio, TV and satellite dish reception. There is no radio reception under or near the power lines from the wind turbines because there is too much interference. Local farmers have found that they get headaches driving along near those power lines.

Exclusive: Russia on the Move – Putin Comes Up with an Alternative to NATO

“All warfare is based on deception” – Sun Tzu

THE “CSTO”

Can this messiah stand up to this devil? This messiah is an amateur!

Can this messiah stand up to this devil? This messiah is an amateur!

Last week, Russia and six ex-satellite nations – former Soviet States – agreed to jointly (translation – Mother Russia rules) create a special military force designed to challenge the influence of NATO. The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) members Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyztan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan have also pledged to deploy their “special forces” units as well as collaboratively contribute to this new military alliance. According to several sources, the scope of the military presence will be significant – the name “rapid reaction unit” notwithstanding. In typical Russia-speak, language designed to deceive, this will not be a SWAT team or even a SEAL team in the U.S. definition of “rapid reaction” force, to handle small insurgent attacks, but a force to be reckoned with. Russia, increasingly sensitive of .U.S and Western influences with their border nations, has expended significant effort and various forms of persuasion – economic, military, energy and political – to rein in or reestablish relations with the “Stan” nations and others critical to creating a buffer zone. Moreover, the members of the CSTO have valuable transit routes for United States interests – supply lines and military bases to support the war effort in Afghanistan, and Russia – pipeline routes for oil and gas.

Though publicly billed to be able to suppress “terrorist” aggression, Dmitry Medvedev let there be no room to miss the Sicilian message “the military alliance would allow operational reaction to threats and would not be less powerful than NATO forces.” The Armenian president Serzh Sarkisian tried to put a more temporizing tone – “the rapid reaction force is aimed at strengthening the military capacity of our organization.” Uh huh – sounds good, but Medvedev (here to fore considered “Putin lite”) was letting the world know….”we’re baaaaack!”

The “Stan” nations are critical to US interests. Russia is turning the screws on us at every opportunity. Putin has a map; where is global AAA when we need them? U.S. foreign policy is lost and leaderless, if you exclude the military. Consider we have just lost a key military supply base in Uzbekistan; Putin may, repeatmay allow us to use it for non military supplies. Big deal! That base was important for our Afghanistan (MILITARY) efforts. But “Putin, Inc” has been tossing money, military and probably a few babes towards the “Stans” and wooing them back, much more than the CSTO of the past would have revealed. These nations are important for our war on terrorists. But, they are essential in Russia’s romp to the sea – giving a virtually uninterrupted region of states from the Motherland to Iran, Iraq and surrounding Turkey.

Which brings me to the question – how many “friends” can we afford to lose? You don’t have military bases in countries without some friendship developing. We are letting Uzbekistan slip through our fingers.

Rockin’ the Bakken

by Paul Revere

Oil Reserves in the Dakotas, Eastern Montana, and Alberta (CA) could set us free, but investors are cautious.

There are two major exports from Saudi Arabia (and much of the rest of the Middle East): oil and Islamic Jihad. The first funds the second. To remain under the thumb of Saudi princes is a ridiculous proposition, especially in light of the fact that we have reserves here at home. Utopian ideals of those in congress will not allow drilling anywhere anytime under any circumstances, because of global warming. Although I am all for newer smarter energy, the current reality on the ground is that the Saudi’s don’t give a rip about saving the world. Oil is everything to them; without it they are nothing. And worst polluter in the world IS … sorry, liberals, it’s not the US … it’s China. And they don’t give a rip about global warming either because there are billions of bucks to be made while belching out tons of black smoke in order to dominate the world in the production of cheap goods with their abundant cheap labor. In essence, while we are looking for better energy sources, and developing the technology to make them viable on a large scale, we need to get in the game, or we will be crushed. And a translation for the liberal minded: if we don’t develop the power to compete, we won’t have the power to do anything. You want to save the world? Great, right now we need oil to do that. When we have the power of energy independence, we can flex our muscles on the biggest offenders, and use oil energy to develop new energy. Yes, oil is needed to get us to the next level. But I digress.

The other reason we are not drilling (even if we did get a green light from congress) is these unsure times. With the price of oil now where it was a couple years ago, there is not the incentive to “go for it” like there was a year ago when gas was $4.25 a gallon. And oil companies have to cinch up their belts like the rest of clear thinking American companies, and there is probably not a lot of capital for exploration or new oil recovery.

Here’s what recent news stories are saying about drilling in The Bakken.

“But buying land right now that we might use two to three or four years from now doesn’t make sense.”

While falling prices have others pulling their rigs out of North Dakota, Wayzata-based  Northern Oil’s owners say this is the perfect time to drill. … Until recently, the Bakken’s oil was not considered worth going after, because it was trapped in shale nearly two miles deep. New drilling technology has made more of that oil recoverable. … The startup’s low overhead allows it to be aggressive while the bigger companies cut back.

An opinion piece suggests that the current administration has plans to keep us dependent on foreign oil forever

Gulfport Energy has some more details about the Bakken development and they are all over it, making serious advancements. You’ll find concise bullet points about it on their website.

And  Williston “Rockin’ The Bakken seems to be the biggest supporters of all things oil, and the “news” section on the site seems to be a good resource as well. You can even apply for an oil job. There was no “about us” tab at this website, but it appears the entire town of Williston, ND might be all over this one. They even have “Rockin’ the Bakken” gear (see logo). The Snopes link on the Rockin’ the Bakken site says that the amount of recoverable oil is grossly overestimated, but perhaps the new technologies tip the scales in the direction of a new look at Bakken.

In the recent past, the tightness of the shale, according to  Bakken Oil LLC, has prevented companies from recovering the oil. But new technology – horizontal drilling and fracturing techniques – have opened up the possibility of tapping reserves said to be ten times that of the Alaskan Slope. Shale oil is harder to retrieve versus liquid crude; yet the size of the Bakken reserves is the compensating factor. You get less oil per ounce of effort, but there is so much of it, the effort proves fruitful.

The other issue – and this is strictly my opinion – is that the Saudi’s and other OPEC nations have a firm grip on any executives in Washington DC. I think that was true for George W “Texas oil man” Bush, and I think it’s also true from Barack “60 million in unnamed, undisclosed, non-US campaign funds” Obama. With that kind of oil money being allowed to influence the President of the United States, then there is little hope that serious domestic oil production will come from the top of government, despite contrary lip service to the public. Stated bluntly: top officials just love the foreign money (and power, influence, and control over you) more than they love America.

Here’s my take: the oil company that drills in The Bakken now will be the hero of the nation (not Obama) in only half a decade. They will have undone the shackles, defunded jihad, and given us control over our lives again.

My guess is that if congress gets wind of new development in the lower 48, it will turn into a big fiasco like ANWR. And we all know the proposed drilling area is one tenth of one percent of ANWR, but environmentalists still make a wedge issue out of it, this potential vital resource remains untapped. I hope they don’t find some spotted tree ant in North Dakota that keeps us from doing the right thing: investing in the people in the United States.

What you can do:

Undo the shackles in Congress:

Call your representatives and express your renewed interest in “stimulating the economy” by tapping domestic oil reserves. U.S. Capitol switchboard: 1-202-224-3121. Be sure to stress “stimulating the economy” over the idea that drilling is more important than environmental concerns.

Write your representatives. You can get contact information here by entering your zip code on the left side, and various contact information pops up.

Consider encouraging oil companies like the ones listed above. Investing in the one that takes the lead on Bakken oil recovery could be very profitable.

Do you have any more ideas? Please feel free to add your own comments.
