Is This the Greatest Threat to America?
by Guy Rodgers, Executive Director, ACT! for America
PART ONE:
The ACT! for America mission is an ambitious one – to combat the threat of radical Islam to America in whatever forms that threat may take. This is why we focus on everything from combating terrorism to resisting cultural jihad. If we successfully prevent terrorism, but fail to prevent the subversion of our society resulting from cultural or stealth jihad, we have not successfully stopped the threat of radical Islam. If we prevent the assault of stealth jihad, but are successfully targeted by major terrorist acts, we have also been unsuccessful in stopping the threat of radical Islam.
This is why the threat of radical Islam is so serious.
And the threat of an Islamist regime or terrorist organization attacking us with an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) attack, triggered by a nuclear detonation above our atmosphere, may well be the most serious threat of all.
Over the past several months we have sent out several emails reporting on this threat, how an EMP attack could knock out much of our power grid, as well as our communications infrastructure, transportation, banking and finance – in short, every infrastructure dependent on electrical power and electronics.
The potential devastation is so great that even some of our members have emailed us with questions asking “could this possibly happen?”
The answer, unfortunately, and frighteningly, is yes. This is not Guy Rodgers talking, or ACT! for America. This is the conclusion of the national Commission to Assess the Threat to the United States from Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) Attack.

New Culture War is over Capitalism
Tea parties, ‘ethical populism,’ and the moral case against redistribution
By Arthur C. Brooks, American Enterprise Institute

Redistribution.
There is a major cultural schism developing in America. But it’s not over abortion, same-sex marriage or home schooling, as important as these issues are. The new divide centers on free enterprise — the principle at the core of American culture.
Despite President Barack Obama’s early personal popularity, we can see the beginnings of this schism in the “tea parties” that have sprung up around the country. In these grass-roots protests, hundreds of thousands of ordinary Americans have joined together to make public their opposition to government deficits, unaccountable bureaucratic power, and a sense that the government is too willing to prop up those who engaged in corporate malfeasance and mortgage fraud.
The data support the protesters’ concerns. In a publication with the ironic title, “A New Era of Responsibility,” the president’s budget office reveals average deficits of 4.7% in the five years after this recession is over. The Congressional Budget Office predicts $9.3 trillion in new debt over the coming decade.
And what investments justify our leaving this gargantuan bill for our children and grandchildren to pay? Absurdities, in the view of many — from bailing out General Motors and the United Auto Workers to building an environmentally friendly Frisbee golf course in Austin, Texas. On behalf of corporate welfare, political largess and powerful special interests, government spending will grow continuously in the coming years as a percentage of the economy — as will tax collections.
Still, the tea parties are not based on the cold wonkery of budget data. They are based on an “ethical populism.” The protesters are homeowners who didn’t walk away from their mortgages, small business owners who don’t want corporate welfare and bankers who kept their heads during the frenzy and don’t need bailouts. They were the people who were doing the important things right — and who are now watching elected politicians reward those who did the important things wrong.
Voices in the media, academia, and the government will dismiss this ethical populism as a fringe movement — maybe even dangerous extremism. In truth, free markets, limited government, and entrepreneurship are still a majoritarian taste. In March 2009, the Pew Research Center asked people if we are better off “in a free market economy even though there may be severe ups and downs from time to time.” Fully 70% agreed, versus 20% who disagreed.
Free enterprise is culturally mainstream, for the moment. Asked in a Rasmussen poll conducted this month to choose the better system between capitalism and socialism, 13% of respondents over 40 chose socialism. For those under 30, this percentage rose to 33%. (Republicans were 11 times more likely to prefer capitalism than socialism; Democrats were almost evenly split between the two systems.)
The government has been abetting this trend for years by exempting an increasing number of Americans from federal taxation. My colleague Adam Lerrick showed in these pages last year that the percentage of American adults who have no federal income-tax liability will rise to 49% from 40% under Mr. Obama’s tax plan. Another 11% will pay less than 5% of their income in federal income taxes and less than $1,000 in total.
To put a modern twist on the old axiom, a man who is not a socialist at 20 has no heart; a man who is still a socialist at 40 either has no head, or pays no taxes. Social Democrats are working to create a society where the majority are net recipients of the “sharing economy.” They are fighting a culture war of attrition with economic tools. Defenders of capitalism risk getting caught flat-footed with increasingly antiquated arguments that free enterprise is a Main Street pocketbook issue. Progressives are working relentlessly to see that it is not.

One Hundred Million Dollars!

Scott, Zip It!
TR: Remember when world-extortionist Dr. Evil attempted to extract payment, but his sense of proportion was always off..? Well, Dr. Obama, showing incredible leadership, has commanded his various departments to dig deep and “identify” a total of $100 Million in their collective budgets, ostensibly an offering to the fiscal-responsibility gods for deep budget cuts.
I wish I could easily illustrate for the minions (you know “the little guys”) the truly staggering amount being saved by this sacrafice – as compared to Dr. O’s $3.5 Trillion federal budget…

Must be allah’s will (MHBIHF)
H/T to Don. A friend of his from Israel sent this to him.
Don said,
Most Syrians struggle to be able to even read Arabic, much less English, especially considering growing up in radical Madrassa’s, where memorizing the Koran is the only curriculum.
So, where do they go to get signs made in English for their “Death to America” protest rallies that the U.S. and European media will unquestioningly broadcast in the West?
What happens if the civilian foreigner they hire make their signs is actually a retired U.S. Army Sargeant?

U.S. Department of Goodness in Motoring (GM)
TR: Uncharted territory folks in the auto industry. How is Ford going to compete with its own Government? (This has never ended well in the history of mankind. Ssshhhhhh…)
Federal control of General Motors is game changer
By Daniel Howes, The Detroit News

Because Big Daddy Loves You! (and raw Power..)
With the arguable exception of the disastrous British Leyland experiment in the 1970s, even the Europeans never went this far.
Not in post-war France, when Charles DeGaulle nationalized Renault SA in 1945 to punish its founder for alleged enemy collaboration, a stake that has diminished to 15 percent over time. Not in Germany, where the state of Lower Saxony owns 20 percent of Volkswagen AG and its minister-president sits on VW’s supervisory board alongside representatives of labor.
Not even across western Europe, where a consortium of France, Germany and Spain controls Airbus SAS, the chief aerospace rival to America’s Boeing Co. But the one guy with experience competing against a government-backed entity is Ford Motor Co. CEO Alan Mulally, former head of Boeing’s commercial aviation unit.
Good thing, because he’ll need it. The week’s not half gone and already the U.S. Treasury is in line to control 50 percent of General Motors Corp. with the United Auto Workers set to gain another 39 percent of the automaker. The feds would select GM’s directors, effectively giving this White House (and the others to follow) control over GM’s strategic direction, top management and even high-level product decisions.
That’s just the beginning.
With or without bankruptcy, a Government Motors partnered with the UAW would be a whole new model for the global auto industry, a nationalized company whose labor union owners would be bargaining with themselves, their interests in positive cash flow to finance retiree health care obligations colliding with political interests to preserve wages and benefits.
There’s a reason the Europeans (not to mention the Japanese or the South Koreans) don’t go there: Too many priorities are mutually exclusive. Government Motors could be a bulwark of infinitely patient capital married to major stakeholders whose goals aren’t shareholder return, operational efficiency and market penetration but the social goals of maximized employment, environmental trend-setting and political (damage) control.
“It is not our desire to either own or run one of the auto companies,” White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said Monday. It may not be, as if saying so makes it so, but that’s the practical effect.
And it has potentially profound implications for industry players — starting with Ford — who aren’t in the same situation but nevertheless would be forced to manage the repercussions on relations with dealers, suppliers, customers, organized labor and a diverse financial community of lenders, equity investors and bondholders.
“We’re trying to understand how we can remain competitive,” a Ford source familiar with the internal deliberations told me Tuesday. “It’s on everyone’s radar screen that the government will be a big owner and will have a big interest in making it successful. It’s uncharted waters for us — again. The government can do just about anything it wants.”
By now, that should be obvious and a reminder that the Golden Rule — “he who has the gold rules” — is the omnipotent force in Detroit’s Great Restructuring. If President Obama’s auto task force wants to run GM or Chrysler LLC through bankruptcy, it will do so because they’re the chief bargainers for their boss. He’s the chief creditor, the chief lender and the chief executive-in-chief.
They don’t do this in Europe — haven’t come close to it for 30 years or more — with the possible exceptions of Putin’s Russia or Lukashenko’s Belarus. Even Germany’s Mitbestimmung, the co-determination of the post-war years that splits corporate oversight between executives and labor representatives doesn’t deliver shareholder voting power to organized labor.
In this, Obama’s Treasury and its auto task force are breaking revolutionary ground.

Different? or just a good marketer?
Has Obama given us change, or is it the same ole, same ole?
With Obama’s first 100 days approaching, our question is: Has Obama really given America change, or is Obama more of the same as virtually all of the 20th Century Presidents? If we can prove that Obama is more of the same then why aren’t the pro-Obama Marxists screaming about Obama’s Bush like tactics?
Where are the Cindy Sheehans, and Code Pink Nazis as Obama moves troops from Iraq to Afghanistan and possibly Pakistan? Where are the Bush haters who screamed about the deficits run up by a Leftist controlled Congress under Bush as Obama skyrockets America’s grand children’s financial burden through an unprecedented deficit spending? Why are American Jews so quiet as Obama bows to a Saudi king and plays paddy-cake with Iran’s Achmedinejad? Things that make ya go hmmm.
Tune in and join the conversation.
Also, Dr. Orly Taitz, lawyer for Allen Keyes, will be giving us an update on her lawsuit against Barack Hussein Obama’s lack of Constitutional qualifications to run for president let alone be president! Where are the most of the Conservatives on this question?

A CULTURE OF SURVEILLANCE
NC Points out: It is so obvious that Faux-bama is no change from the previous administration. Perhaps, this country isn’t as polarized as we all think or hope!
I just want to remind people that today there are some kids going to prison doing the same kinds of stupid things that some of us did when we were kids. When we did it we were grounded, today these kids go to jail.
Today, parents are having their children taken away from them because the parents took the family to church too much, or homeschooling their kids! Our Country was founded by homeschooled kids who were taught our of the Bible and that classromms of that time were taught from that ancient Text. Parents are being falsely accused of sex crimes merely being used to perpetrate a government industry and jobs creation programs for the governments!
Now we have this law called Hate Crimes. What is a hate crime? What is a Thought Crime? The definition is YOU being in disagreement with the POPULAR political opinion in control regarding certain behaviors such as homosexuality! Today, if you call a group, not an individual, but a group some derogatory name you can be charged with a hate crime where your HEART is examined, and picked apart to find some “motive” and “intent” as to why you “hate” that group. I guess the next thing we will see is shrinks being assigned to you, hater, and then you will be despensed drugs, and sent off to some sort of “diversity training”. Oh, wait that’s already happening, my bad!
Last time I looked all crimes were perpetrated by hate!
It used to be that you were INNOCENT until proven guilty, and furthermore intent was never “assigned” to you, but that was the determining factor that a prosecutor HAD TO PROVE in order to get a hasher sentence for a real crime. Today, intent is just assumed.
As we have posted on this blog, in the very state where Miranda Rights were first challenged and protected by the highest Court in the land we see random people being pulled over and told to get out of their car for “random” searches with no Miranda rights being announced, no lawyers being presented, no rights whatsoever!
If you give government ONE INCH they will take everything they can get their hands on!
We hear a alot of commentators say, “Bush, kept this country safe from terrorism.” Yes, he did, but we Americans exchanged our Liberty for a little bit of security and it was done long before Bush got into office. But be assured of on thing: in faux-bama’s faux-presidency we will have even less security or far less Liberty!
Obama Taking Up Where Bush Left Off
It is truly amazing how much news the American news media chooses to ignore. If one wants to discover what is actually going on in the world, he or she often has to go to the foreign press. This has again been the case with a story that every American should be extremely interested in, but which has been totally ignored by the American news media. I found this story in Russia Today.
According to RussiaToday.com, “The personal computer may soon be not-so-private, with the U.S. and some European nations working on laws allowing them access to search the content held on a person’s hard drive.
“President Obama’s administration is keeping unusually tight-lipped on the details, which is raising concerns among computer users and liberty activists.”
