Modern Progressives Redefine Freedom & Independence
Okay, so last night I watched the Democratic Primary Presidential Debates. Up until now I have deliberately stayed away from them because this presidential campaign seems to be the longest one in American history. It’s hard enough to watch a normal campaign, but now that the primaries have all been pushed up it’s even more laborious.
The debates centered on the key issues most concerning to Americans, such as the War on Terror, health care, oil prices, and our need to be energy free. Did I say free?
The “modern” progressives, when quizzed on energy freedom, want to punish us for not being “free” enough with our energy “independence”. Did I say independence? The way the libs were talking I neither heard freedom nor independence in their “schemes.” I’m sorry did I say schemes? I meant proposals.
I have to admit right here, and now that I could only stomach periodic moments of watching these commie freaks talk about what’s “good” for America. When I heard their notions of freedom and independence I threw my popcorn bowl at them and changed the channel. They were blathering on about our need to be energy independent. Actually, if truth be told, they were really discussing how to secure more government jobs by taxing the crap out of all businesses, next our private homes, for spewing out the evil green house gases, and not changing our light bulbs. Picture this in your head, your mowing your lawn or B-B-Qing in the back yard when the uninvited federal agent parks in your driveway . . . well you get it.
Anyway, I digressed, remember the dreaded green house gases that was the Mother Earth trauma de jour of the libs several years back? Couple that with Florida being drowned in exactly nine years from now, and the polar bears turning brown from the sun tan they’re getting from up north yonder! (As a side note, a week ago we had more snow dumped on us in two days than I have ever seen in the nine years I have lived in my town!)
So, this is their plan for freedom. In the 15 seconds I could endure their garbage, they were hot on the topic of what they were going to do with their new found zillions of denero aka fines, and penalties, they would be accumulating in government bank accounts. All to help the chiilllddrreeenn doncha ya know? The discussion swirled around fines and punishments and how that would benefit America? That’s their plans on what’s good for America!
Put down your doobie, focus like a lazer beam and listen!
This the way it works for you publically educated lefttards: We have brainiacs out there in America, the ones you didn’t abort, and they like to build stuff! They like to make money after they build this stuff. One reason is because they used their money to build that stuff. That’s called capital! Did you lefties come up with the capital? No! They did.
So they come up with the idea that helps America and when we like their idea we buy it! That’s how it works. The only reason government should be involved with this very American process, not Marxist-Leninist process, of turning ideas into benefits for America is to protect the brainiacs with tax breaks, or no taxes at all!
If the government thieves start taxing the brainiacs who come up with ideas that will help America then they have less capital and desire to build their stuff. This is where the libs say, “No, we only want to punish those companies for making too much money in unfair windfall profits, or spewing out green house gasses into Mother Earth’s lungs.”
Nope, that’s not how it works! First, America is one of the cleanest and richest nations on earth! That’s not an unfair thing, it’s a good thing.
Hell, we’ve had to listen to these nature religion fundamentalists screaming at us for so long that we’ve complied with their notion of freedom just to get them to shut up!
Second, giving companies tax breaks for cleaning up their act will get far more positive change then punishing them. Don’t you remember your mother ever telling you that you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar? It works!
Simply put, that’s the American way, and it’s worked quite nicely for a very long time. We have invented a lot of cool stuff like the automobile that’s benefited the world and the natural result is the advancement of REAL freedom and independence.

WOW! You lasted 15 seconds? I only did 12 before throwing up in my mouth. It makes me repeat what I say over and over again…
Lefty lIb socialist are so concerned with feeling good about something they are willing to destroy themselves in the process, self loathing idiots…
They truly have no idea what it is they support…
Nice rant NC,,, keep it up and one day you can be as pissed as me!!!:)
LOL! You mean I’m not as pissed as you yet? Crap. That’s pretty scary, and I refuse to take drugs to relieve my anger.
I think I’ll go shoot off my gun for awhile. That always helps!
Yes Indeed!
I have yet to watch any debate yet. I am so disgusted by the media and their blatant setups and bias towards people and “anointing” of other people. There are better ways to investigate the candidates than to watch the dog and pony shows.
But you hit it right on the head. The libs aren’t concerned with anything real or tangible. They’re concerned with bizarre things that make no sense. Like you point out, the whole energy “independence” thing is a fallacy – a talking point. Nothing more. Anybody who takes more than 3 seconds to stop and think about what these morons are saying would have to step back and really question what is being said. On the surface it sounds all noble and “progressive” but beneath the surface is nothing but hot air… I mean greenhouse gasses.
I also wanted to point out that if the Socialists really were interested in stopping green house gases, and wanting to be energy independent, etc. they would not be sitting around discussing how they are going to spend the punishment money.
That tells me and should tell everyone else that they don’t give a rip about the environment, but rather their tax and spend agenda! They are freakin’ hypocrites, and liars to the 10th degree!
My question is why do the ecowhackos not get this? Are they too just hypocrites or are they just stupid?
I am so sick of all the PC rhetoric, and as a blogger and activist I am going to do what I have to do to slam it where ever I see it!
If there is anything out there in the world that MAN is doing to kill the environment we live in that would be Socialism! Not freedom and Independence!
That’s right, this is all about money. Environmentalism is nothing more than a very convenient vehicle for redistribution of wealth (via taxation) and excessive government control.
I have been watching this unfold and have been absolutely horrified by what I am seeing. It’s disgusting. Even the biofuel thing is nothing more than a way to transfer money around and woo the farm crowd for votes. Most real environmentalists will say outright that biofuels are actually worse for the environment than gasoline – yet it’s been forced down our throats in the name of environmentalism.
I agree with everything you say except re: biofuels (exception–ethenoyl because of the way it’s processed.). Simply put, when you grow the fuel it burns up carbon and makes oxygen. I could say tons more on this but I won’t at this point. Perhaps later if you’re interested.
We do all of our driving in a diesel Jetta TDI, get 50 miles to the gallon–really, and the car is great around corners, snow, rain and takes off like a jet–thus the name I suspect!
We love this car and my only complaint is that it isn’t 4 wheel drive like the Subaru. It would be the perfect car if it was! Volkswagen makes the diesel engine for virtually all of their models.
We can make bio diesel in our back yard which we plan on doing in the near future. It will save us a ton of money in the near future opposed to the long term future. We love it and we will never go back to gas again.
Another issue is we had the worst storm our state has seen in over 100 years and the power was out to over a million people in the winter. While tens of thousands of people were using their cars to say warm and gas generators in their homes it meant they were sitting in gas lines literally for hours. Because we use diesel or bio fuels we drove right up to the pump and had no problem in the three weeks our state was going through hell. There are also diesel generators for the home too.
If done right alternative energies are our best chance to go independent so long as Conservatives take this opportunity to step up to the plate, and show the voters that our plans will work far better than the Socialists’ plans.
That’s the key. While the Socialist’s say they are the leaders when it comes to the environment all their plans do is create more welfare farms, grow bigger government, punish the brainiacs and worst of all of it, it doesn’t create an independent America.
The Conservatives have a huge opportunity here to step up and take the real lead!
We’ll have to discuss the biofuel thing… Namely because there are lots of ups and downs and I have quite a bit of research material that really points out the downfalls of biofuels.
I can’t speak so much for biodiesel, although I do know that there are some really big problems popping up regarding the massive production of biodiesel and the fact that land is being cleared in Malaysia and elsewhere to grow palms for palm oil to use in biodiesel, and it’s creating a lot of eco problems.
I can say with certainty, though, that Ethanol is bad juju, not just from the growing perspective but from the emissions perspective too.
There is also the fallacy of the fuel being “renewable” since even if all available land were devoted to growing biofuel crops, it wouldn’t be able to meet demand and due to crop rotation needs, unstable growing conditions, seasonal restrictions and good old mother nature, there is no way to guarantee any sort of predictable output.
All these environmentally destructive practices happen because of subsidies and distortions in the marketplace. A good test of whether an energy resource or process is environmentally and economically profitable and sustainable, is whether or not the energy resource or process can be used to profitably and sustainably produce more of this very same energy resource. For example, can ethanol be profitably produced, without any subsidies,. using ONLY ethanol as the sole energy input in all stages of ethanol production? Beginning with growing the feedstock crop, fertilizing, harvesting, fermentation, and distillation? In the case of corn to ethanol, it is an absolutely unsustainable energy process, because it requires more ethanol in the production cycle than is yielded by it. It is a net energy loss when the entire corn-to-ethanol production cycle is accounted for, and therefore such corn-to-ethanol process would not take place at all in production under an undistorted free market. The taxpayer funded subsidies actually induce ethanol producers to consume MORE energy than if they didn’t do anything at all, thus making the energy shortage worse! Nobody goes into business or stays into a business that consistently generates less revenue than the business costs to operate, but that is what is being promoted by these subsidies. We need to immediately end all subsidies and other market distortions now, as a first step in effectively solving our energy crises, rather than just passing feel-good legislation that makes the problem even worse.
I agree. Let biofuels stand on their own without any subsidies and let the market work. Most biofuels would fall apart and disappear without help. Propping something up that doesn’t work is asinine and is only happening because legislators (and our President) are more interested in feel-good legislation that results in good PR and a few pats on the back, and they are obsessed with the farm vote.
While I agree that some biofuels are acceptable alternatives, rushing to market and trampling over everything else in the process is the wrong way to go about things. In the end, they are doing more damage than good.
I have an RSS news feed that catches all news with “biofuel” or “ethanol” in it, and every day I see articles about the pitfalls of biofuel expansion worldwide. We don’t have it nearly as bad as some, but our new mandates promise to push us over the top. Europe has already created a massive problem and some of their big biodiesel raw material suppliers are starting to deny or cancel licenses because they can’t sustain the crops and they’re doing a great deal of harm to the land.
The biggest thing is that this sort of thing has to be done correctly, which as of now has not been happening.
